UNIVERSITY OF SURREY PROSPECTUS
To advertise their courses and inform students about life on campus, The University of Surrey produces a yearly prospectus. In 2019 I was brought on board to give it a refresh.
Context
Creating the prospectus is an annual task, and the design team wanted a fresh pair of eyes to make theirs stand out amongst it’s hundreds of competitors.

Research
A lot of the information found inside the prospectus remained the same year on year. It included things like course listings and entry requirements. These are invaluable to a student deciding where to go to university, but it doesn’t give a real insight as to what their life will be like should they choose to go there.
After interviewing current students and hearing about their experiences on campus, I realised that what sets the university apart is its unique feeling of community.
Branding
Rather than selling courses, I wanted new students to really understand what their life would be like at Surrey. I used photographs that student’s had taken and included interviews for authenticity.
I also worked closely with the copywriting team who did an incredible job breathing life into the narrative, ensuring the tone was relatable and expressive.
The university had it’s own branding, but I was able to push the elements to create engaging, vibrant spreads.
The student’s loved seeing themselves in the prospectus, and because of our collaboration were able to show a true representation of life on campus.
